SpaceX set to launch the first private space station by 2025

The First Private Space Station

 

Vast and SpaceX have announced their intention to launch a commercial space station, named Haven-1, as early as August 2025. This unique space station will be compact enough to fit inside the payload fairing of SpaceX's Falcon 9 launch vehicle and will be deployed into a low Earth orbit at approximately 500 km altitude. Haven-1 will be a significant milestone as the world's first privately-owned space station. Following the launch of Haven-1, the companies are planning to promptly execute a crewed mission to the space station using a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The Dragon spacecraft will accommodate a crew of four individuals and will dock with Haven-1 for an immersive 30-day mission.

 

Future Plans for the Space Station

Vast is offering the four seats for the first mission, catering to a diverse range of potential customers, including space agencies and private individuals engaged in scientific and philanthropic endeavors. Furthermore, the company has secured an option with SpaceX for an extra crewed mission to its space station. Looking ahead, Vast has set its sights on a larger 7-meter-diameter space station module, specifically designed to fit within SpaceX's Starship launch vehicle, with a targeted launch by 2028.
